I have loads of .rar games but cant get them to show up on my PSP, I do have a .cso though and I can play this, I was wondering can I play .rar files directly from my PSP or do I need to convert them to a .cso or .iso?

.rar are not even games!!!! They're just groups of files all putten into a single file. Of course your psp can't play them.
You need to extract them. But obviously it doesn't need to be converted into ISO format, just place all those files into a folder of any name and then place that folder into the GAME folder of your psp.

Yeah, I sorted it lastnight, I was extracting either to far or not atall.. I worked it out in the end, but now I have 7 games on my MS but ony 4 work :(
On 3, when the white PSP logo comes up as the game starts it then goes like a dull grey (with the logo still there, just not as bright) and then completely black and doesn't start.
Can anybody help?

From what I know so far .rar are the games uncompressed and are a .iso. To turn these into a .cso (compressed. Will be smaller but I do not advice to compress some games like gta, horrible lag.) use a program called umd gen.

how do i convert CSO files into ISO because i my need for speed carbon is cso and it stutters a bit.
Also I downloaded pimp my ride. It was in 5 parts. I tried extracting all the parts to one foldeer and merging it that way. That did not work. I tried another approach I was able to merge all my files but the file type was winrar archive. I know this file type won't work on my psp so can someone tell me how I can convert this file into a ISO or CSO which will work on my psp.

The winrar one you mentioned, you need to extract it from the one you extracted :)
Basicly a repeat process.. And then it should either be a .cso or .iso
But this doesent, gurantee that the game will start, I myself have about 12 games, but only half of them seem to work, they are all visable under games when I have them on the MS, but when I start some they don't get past the white PSP logo.. :(
However what you mentioned with your Pimp My Ride game is what was happening with my CoD:RtV game, but I extracted again and it showed up on the MS, and not only that, it's one of the ones that starts :)
Hope this helps a little..
Thanks,
Leigh

You CAN'T change the format of the file just by simply renaming it. It's the same concept when you change the file ending of a .doc into .exe or whatever, the file is still in the .doc format, just that when you open it while it's ending has been changed it will come out corrupted. If you want to change a .rar archive to a .iso, you might need to use a program. But why bother? Just extract the files and place them in a folder of whatever name and then place that folder into the GAME folder.

psp888, this doesn't work for me, I have tried numurous ways of putting files into the GAME folder and none seeem to work. Only way I get them to work is when I put them into the ISO folder.
Ross, now move that file into the ISO folder and that should work :)

Why doesn't it work on mine. I extracted it and put it in a folder and put it in the game folder and even the ISO folder but nothing happen. And what files do you need to put to the folder.
