Here's a guide i found on creating a magic memory stick WITHOUT the use of a Custom Firmware psp...this in combination of a hard modded battery will be everything you need to create a PB without use of a cfw psp!

First GO HERE and download the KD and Registry files needed for this process...the instructions below are also on that page but i'll post them here too:

READ THIS FIRST: when you get to the part that asks you to choose the pandora folder you want to use original or despertar...original will only downgrade fat psps to 1.5 firmware then you need to update manually!!  The despertar version will allow you to put 3.71M33-2 directly onto any psp fat or slim!! so unless you really want to go to 1.5 i would use the despertar version no matter what your psp fat or slim!! If you have a slim you must use DESPERTAR!

Heres a guide.

*extract the file into your desktop:
*Open README 1st folder
*highlight and copy MSINST and MSPFORMAT FOLDER
*open My Computer
*Left Click the C: drive once (Note: if you double click, it will open C: drive)
*Now RIGHT Click on C: drive and PASTE
==============
*now you need to ENABLE USB MODE on psp
*make note of the psp drive letter
==============
*Open Cmd window ( Start > RUN > CMD )
*Type in the following command "CD C:\" (note: with-out quote mark) HIT enter
*it should take you to -----> C:\>
*type the following command "mspformat\mspformat.exe X" ( where X=psp drive letter) note: NO quotation
*Press Y to continue
*it should say "Drive succesfully formatted, and partition moved."
*disable USB mode
*remove the memory stick and re-insert back
*re-enable USB mode
*Now go back to the Desktop where you extracted those file earlier
*Choose the Pandora Folder you want to make ( original(phat) or despertar(slim)
*Once you choose the folder you want dbl click and open it
*Select all and COPY
*open the psp memory stick and PASTE
*go back to CMD window.
*type the following command "msinst\msinst.exe X msinst\msipl.bin" (again where X=psp drive letter) note: NO quotation
*It should ask you " Are You Sure ? [Y]
*Press Y and Hit ENTER
*The last line should say " Write MS BOOT CODE "

thats it your done..
You now have a magic memory stick...

Now you still need to create a pandora battery!! THIS GUIDE seems to be the most helpful with the modifying process..just use this for making the battery...the directions above is the easiest way to create the memstick!!

I created this post to help everyone out who has no access to a psp with custom firmware!! If you know someone who already has custom firmware it is much easier to use their psp to create a PB and Memstick, but if you have no other options this is the only other way to go!

Credit goes to MexiChino for the files.
And DAMilenko for the guide on how to use them. Both from pspmod.com!

note: im not sure if you can use a slim battery for this process, i've heard mixed reports...to be safe use a fat battery...it will still work as PB for modifying slims!

Haha, I had been trying to make a panora memstick/battery for a while, so I cut open my battery, modded that, and then tried to make the memstick on my vista laptop, didn't work, so I was reading this today, and tried it on my xp desktop and it worked!! so after all that time thinking that that battery was worthless now, it actually works, so I downgraded my friend's psp with it,

the making of the memory stick works with any psp!!

now making the battery the manual way can be done with most batteries from what i have read...but i would get an extra one to make it!! dont wanna fry your only battery!!

if you create the memstick, and the battery it will put custom firmware on any psp!!

good point G i added that to the first post..and here:

everyone should use despertar version fat or slim...unless you really need to go back to 1.50 on a fat psp..you cant go back to 1.50 on a slim!!

note: just so everyone knows despertar will put 3.71M33-2 on your psp automatically so this is what you should use if you want cfw...its the easiest way...and using the method described in the first post of this thread you can make this version whether you have a fat or slim psp!!
