I recently purchased a psp fat that had a "custom OS". Me, being the total n00b that I am figured it was using CFW. Anyway, it starts up, displays some bootlog type text, and the screen goes black (power still on). Here's a screenshot:

Upon powering on, it scrolls through the fist few lines very quickly. It stalls for just a sec or 2 when it says "is format? -- already". It displays the rest of the text quickly after that, and a few seconds later the lcd turns off. The power is still on, but I get no response by anthing I do. It also seems to take about 5-7 secs to power off when holding the power button in the "up" position
I've scoured the web and forums for any info related to this with no success. If anybody can help me get my psp to the point where I can make it usable I'd appriciate it.
Thanks in advance - Illuminus

That's acutally why they were selling it. They tried to figure it out, but couldn't.
I'm hoping that I can get it going once I get my mem stick and battery in the mail.
Thanks

I hooked it up with the usb cable. Windows (xp) recognized it as a device, but couldn't find drivers for it. Are there some drivers out there I should download?

I downloaded some tools that should allow me to dump the NAND and flash of this psp. I'm looing forward to getting my Mem Stick and TOOL Battery (which should work the same as a pandora's battery from what I've heard).
Just to make sure, I should be able to put the psp into usb mode with a pandora's battery, correct?

It's a phat right? You should be able to dump the firmware to a single file on the memory stick called nand-dump.bin!

If I can dump this I'll make certain that I upload it and pass out links in all the forums.
Thanks for the advice about maxconsole.. I actually PMed cory149 - the guy who is responsible for the most recent NANDtool I could find.
EDIT: yes this is a psp fat, and just to make sure, what program would everybody recommend for doing this sort of dump?

Just another update for everybody while I wait for my mem stick & battery.
One individual has already offered support via instant messenger. I would like at least one other person available to talk to when I do try to dump this. I know that tons of ppl have told me it's easy, but I REALLY don't want to screw this up. If there's anybody out here with lots of experience in this field please feel free to volunteer. I'll be adding my contact info in my profile of this forum. Also, is it okay to post links to other fourms on this site? I want to be able to share all of the info that I've gathered so far, but I don't want to piss off any mods.
Somebody asked me to try using USBhostfs on this, and see what my results were. I just want a second oppinion on this before I potentially do any harm (I've read about usbhostfs, but don't know it's inner workings). Windows does recognize the psp when the power is on, but only as an unknown device (probably because it doesn't have a mem stick?). Also, whatever bit of software this is says USB check ... NG - so maybe it'll get me some more info.

I have a Memory Stick Pro Duo high speed 1GB. It just came in the mail today! I heard somewhere that there were problems with installing cfw with larger ones.
After puting it into the psp and powering it on, the read indicator lit up and flickered rapidly (similar to a hard drive's led when reading data). So I then tried to see if I could put data on the Mem Stick with the psp as it is, but it still shows as an unknown device in WinXP.
I'm still waiting on the battery.
I'm off to town to get a card reader. I've found a few for sale at reasonable prices. *wish me luck*

Nethost is better, it is actually easier to use, and you dont have to be tied down to a computer, I have tried USB hots many times and had errors along the way, whether it be running 2.71 devhook (cuzza TA-082 dont run 1.5 or when it did, the IDstorage broke USB hosts) or the program not being properly programmed and working with Vista.
Nethosts, worked first try.

I got a 2Wire 2700HG-E and it's my modem with built in router (like a normal modem except 4 ethernet ports and wireless access point, or one can say it's a router with a phone jack [DSL not Dialup])
Not mine, but looks like it!
